36 apartments with a commercial-social program and collective hub right in the new cultural cluster of Breda
Bureau Fraai won an invited architects selection together with Grosfeld Bekkers van der Velde Architecten with the design of a robust residential building ‘De Blikvanger’ with social and middle income rental apartments on Klavers Jansen in Breda that for the last decades had been known as an industrial area. This building will, as an outspoken landmark, be one of the first developments of the industrial area of Klavers Jansen in the coming years. This area will be transformed into a new vibrant cultural cluster of Breda.
After winning the selection Bureau fraai was also commissioned to design another residential building in the opposite corner of the industrial area of Klavers Jansen. For the design of this building ‘De Limonadefabriek’ with the green facade, Bureau Fraai took inspiration from the ‘green’ history of Klavers Jansen where vegetables were conserved. Besides this, the green facade on one hand refers to the green street ‘Speelhuislaan’ next to the plot and on the other hand refer to a sustainable future. This Building functions as a steppingstone between the existing residential neighborhood and the future cultural cluster.
‘De Limonadefabriek’ consists of six floors with a total of 36 medium-sized apartments serving the new inhabitants of this new vibrant cultural cluster.
The ground floor, with a commercial program and collective hub connects the building with the informal and vibrant inner area of the site.
Expected start construction Q2 2025
